10 Weeks

Well - Today is a big day....Wyatt has officially been napping in his crib for about an hour! This is HUGE people!

He has been sleeping in his swing since about 2 weeks of age, and I can see it getting a bit ridiculous if we don't begin breaking that habbit soon. When he is crying at night we wake up and notice that he is practially hanging his legs off the end of it because he has scooted down so much.

I am ready to say that the colic is GONE. He is a completely different baby then before. So happy and curious now. We can start having a life again! We are starting to talk about weaning him off all of the things that we are doing to keep him calm - like the swing, white noise, swaddling to get him sleep. Should be interesting!

He has started sleeping for about a 5 hour stretch before he wakes up, too. There IS a God! Ha! Especially because I am on my own for the majority of 3 nights a week.

Nothing else is really going on with us - my cousin Amber is coming to babysit tonight and we are going out, I just hope my cuter clothes will fit....The ab video hasn't begun to get rid of my killer muffin top quite yet....

2 Months!

Wyatt will be two months tomorrow....CRAZY. He is getting so big, but is still such a tiny little guy.

The colic is getting better each day and we couldn't be more relieved. He is so much more alert and happy these days. He loves the morning times and is smiling so much - WHEN he is in the right mood. He still has his dramatic moments when he flails his arms and legs and squeezes the tiniest tears out like he is being tortured, but we are definately on the downhill slope of all the fussy-ness. He is totally different than even 2 weeks ago - Yay!

That being said....I attempted to go for a walk around the lake today. Notice I used the word "attempted." This walk was very planned out and I timed it when he would normally being going down for a nap. We got half way around the lake and I started thinking to myself, "Wow, I have this thing down! What a great baby I have! And what a great mother I am!" Then he woke up. He proceeded to cry, no WAIL uncontrollably. I immediately headed for the car, and took him out of the carrier. He cried the entire walk back to the car, which took about 30 minutes. When we got to the car, the little guy stopped and smiled. Hmmm...

Here is what I learned -

1. It's a crapshoot on whether he will be an angel or a terror. (So I need to plan for the latter)

2. People are stupid.

Don't say to someone with a screaming child - "Oh, someone's not happy." You friggin think so? Wow, thanks for letting me know because I was not aware that he was yelling in my ear. And if you see a situation like this, do not attempt to stop them and talk with them. Someone actually wanted to stop me and ask how old he was and crap. I just kept walking. They probably thought, "Well, she is a bad mother and rude!"

The three of us (4, sorry Lily) were in Wenatchee this week for Brian's grandpa's memorial. It was a sad time and a good time all in one. His family did a great job of coming together and remembering him. He was 96 years old and made such an impact on Brian's entire family's lives. It was nice to be a part of it all.

one month, already

It is crazy to think that we have had Wyatt home for a whole month already! We have all changed so much it seems.

Today was Brian's first day back at work....and so far, so good. Wyatt and I have sat in the rocking chair and listened to the beautiful sounds of the vacuum cleaner a couple of times, and bounced around the house countless times as well. All in attempt to calm the little guy from the bouts of screaming that seem to consume our days at times.

We went back to Wenatchee this past week and it was great to have parents around. It was so nice to be with my mom and have her help with Wyatt. It is hard to have him around others because he will most likely wail uncontrollably and it makes me so anxious and uncomfortable. But with grandparents, its okay! My mom is a pro with a crying baby, too. Sean had Colic and Nick, well, he was just a big crybaby if I remember right :) I felt better being around her and hearing all of the things she went through. Most of all, her and Chet helped us feel that we were doing a good job and that Wyatt was alright - nothing is wrong with him!

I don't know why I never prepared myself for the possibility of him having Colic, but we are learning quick! I love the times of the day when he is alert and happy, just wish they happened more often! He is just starting to look at stuff around the house and seem interested in his surroundings. I need to get some pictures of the incredibly confused faces he makes at stuff - so cute.

Alright, there is somewhat of an explanation of why we have been M.I.A. for the past few weeks! Once I get a picture of him at one month of age, I will post more....

Bath Time!

Wyatt had his first bath yesterday! He seemed to really like it! We have been continuing to adjust to our new life and it still seems to be a balancing act between feeding Wyatt and sleeping. The past few days he has been crying quite a bit more than before and I think last night we slept a total of three hours. He had his 2 week check-up today and the pediatrician thinks he has Colic. She was great about giving us a lot of tips on how to deal with it and to help soothe him, all the while admitting that her own kids were colicky and there isn't much you can do at times. It is looking like we are going to start sleeping in shifts and taking lots of car rides around the block! We keep saying to each other "Good thing he's cute!" :)

Happy Easter!

Here is Wyatt in his bunny hat from Liz. We are not doing anything for Easter this year....too soon to think about packing him up and taking him somewhere! So we stayed home and Wyatt is watching the Master's and the M's with Daddy while I take a nap and catch up on some laundry. Hope all of you have a great Easter!

He's Here!

It has been a crazy week! Wyatt Evan McKinney was born on April 3rd at 11:58 PM. We were scheduled to go in for some form of induction that day at 7:00 AM, but were told to stay home because there was no room for us and we could come back at 3:00....we were a little heart-broken but made the best of it and took a nap and washed the car.

When we finally got to our hospital room at 3:00, we found out that I was already in labor! No induction needed! It seemed like we waited around for a while and all the sudden my doctor checked me and said to the nurse, "Get the kit ready, she's complete!" After that my dad and Brian's dad were sent out of the room and 45 minutes later Wyatt was born.

We brought him home on Sunday afternoon and have been adjusting to life as parents. My mom has been here since then and went home today. She was such a big help and it was great to have her here. Just to have someone tell me that everything we were going through was "normal" was nice. Like with feeding....he has been a really sleepy baby and didn't want to wake up to eat for a long time. Therefore, he lost too much of his body weight. After MUCH persistence, things have figured themselves out and Wyatt is eating like a champ!

Anyway, he is currently the cutest baby ever and we love being with him everyday. We are even functioning fairly well on no sleep!

Friday!

Ok, so it looks like the "nudging" that the doctor was talking about will be Friday morning at 7:00! We are going in and he is doing....something. We don't exactly know. He thinks the extreme swelling and weight gain is reason enough to not let me sit around and wait to give birth. I am not sure how extensive the methods will be, but hopefully the baby will be here this weekend! YAY! We'll let you all know what is going on when we find out more!
